Well, after a very intense campaign, we didn’t quite make it. We’d like to say thank you to all of those who helped and supported our campaign and to all those who voted for us. It was still a fantastic campaign and there is much to proud of.
We will of course still continue to help you residents with any issues you would like help with and we can help you with approaching or dealing with Hackney Council.
Finally, a note about entering into coalition with the Conservatives. The Liberal Democrat negotiating team did an excellent job and much of the new government’s agenda will be comprised of the Liberal Democrat policies we campaigned for in the election.
We have every confidence that with these policies we will show that we are capable of delivering justice, liberty and fairness for all.
The result of the Hoxton council election can be found here: http://www.hackney.gov.uk/hoxton-result.htm
Best regards,
James, Koray & Salil

A note about those who were with me (James) at the Our Lady and St Joseph’s Primary School when the polling station closed on 6th May.
It can be taken as read that the election results will stand, there is almost no prospect of the results being made void or of any legal action. As the police said at the time, although perhaps not in the most understanding of ways, the law is clear that no ballot papers can be handed out after 10 p.m.
However, Hackney Liberal Democrats will be asking questions to the Hackney Returning Officer about the conduct of the election, the resources which were provided for it (considering there were three election on the same day) and why there seemed to be an apparent lack of adjustment of resources throughout the day and later in the evening when it was clear queues were building up.
At the moment, it is only fair that we wait for the Returning Officer’s reply about what happened. We inform you of the outcome and and our views on the matter in due course.

In Hackney, the Liberal Democrats are in second place. The Tories and the Greens can’t win. Don’t stay at home on 6th May thinking everyone is the same, or that Labour can’t lose. Go out and make a difference, support local Lib Dem volunteers and make a change to help you.
If you want change–locally and nationally, then vote Liberal Democrat on 6th May. Our pledges for Hackney are:
1) Clean and open politics in Hackney
2) The best policies for the environment
3) To cut crime in Hackney
4) A fair start for young people
5) Fair taxes for all–and cutting taxes for local people
6) A fairer deal for tenants and leaseholders
7) Cut the mayor’s budget
8) A cycle scheme for Hackney
9) Strengthing community groups
10) Make the Olympics work for local people
